Meliá Hotels International is the most attractive hotel company to work for in Spain according to the latest Randstad Employer Brand Research report containing the ranking of companies with the greatest potential to attract talent.
The research is based on the responses of more than 7,200 Spanish professionals to questions about the attractiveness of employment with the most important companies in Spain.
Since it began a process of cultural transformation in 2011, beginning with a change of corporate brand from Sol Meliá to Meliá Hotels International, the company has developed an extensive talent management policy and strengthened its positioning as an “employer brand” in order to improve its projection as an attractive company for professional development, strengthen its relationship with the academic world, refocus its global internship model towards a more dynamic environment, and enhance its global positioning as a leading and responsible company.
The Group now has more than 44,000 employees worldwide, and 21% of the new employees hired in 2016 were from Spain.
A “big family” of employees
Well aware that talent is a critical factor in all those countries and cultures in which it operates, the company retains an up-to-date “talent map” and is committed to the development of its worldwide team through e-MELIÁ, an online learning platform. In line with its commitment to promote the growth of its people, Meliá recruitment processes are mostly covered by internal staff.
In terms of culture and the work environment, Meliá carried out an annual survey of the most relevant aspects in terms of work and career development, which, in essential aspects such as the degree of commitment, motivation and pride of belonging, has achieved results of over 80%.
The cultural transformation of Meliá is also based on the recent launch of a new Leadership and Recognition Programm that will provide support for more than 800 key leaders in the evolution and transformation of the company to help them become an increasing source of inspiration and example for their teams, helping to generate an environment of trust and the feeling of forming part of a big family that is so characteristic of Meliá.
