Waiting for the bus will soon have a new incentive in Palma: bookcrossing, a project in which the EMT (Empresa Municipal de Transportes) works to offer the citizens of Palma an opportunity to enjoy reading by free exchange of books as they wait for the bus. This is not an original idea, but it already exists in other cities or countries of the world.

This initiative, promoted by the City Council, is carried out jointly with  the School of Design of the Balearic Islands, who is  the responsible for the design of the furniture where the books will be placed.

The idea is to take advantage of the structure of the bus stop. In this way, the Town Hall has selected eight bus stops to start with the project. Once they have been selected, the bookcases will be nourish, initially, with funds left from the municipal libraries, with the hope that the users themselves provide the bookcases with books to exchange.

A good initiative to promote the  exchange of books between citizens and have fun when one is waiting for the bus.
